Export order hopes force sugar to hit upper circuit

It was a volatile day for futures trading in agriculture commodities on NCDEX and MCX. Sugar for January delivery hit the upper circuit of 5.69 per cent at Rs 1,467 per quintal, while the February contract was up 4.63 per cent at Rs 1,490 per quintal.

“The inclusion of Kholapur as a delivery centre for sugar attracted some of the traders’ interest. Stockist and traders were seen buying heavily on hopes of export orders from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh,” said a trader.
