Punj Lloyd unit bags Rs 1,110cr S'pore order

Sembawang Engineers & Constructors, a subsidiary of Punj Lloyd, has been awarded a Singapore $400 million (Rs 1,119.20 crore) contract by Marina Bay Sands to construct and build the north podium of Marina Bay Sands integrated project comprising casino, theatres and retail arcades.

According to a release issued by Punj Llyod to the BSE today, work on the project is likely to start this month, and is expected to be completed by April 2009.

The project is to build the substructure and superstructure of the mega resort, which will have four upper levels and a four-storey basement. "Sembawang is well placed to handle this project as it is also constructing the new downtown line bayfront MRT station in Marina Bay, which will connect directly to the resort's MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) centre,"the release added.
